DIY Capsule Collection
Capsule collections have been the new way to shop for a signature look without the hassle of piece by piece shopping. Find out how you can create your DIY capsule collection.
During my spring cleaning I was able to donate last season’s clothing and revamp my closet with a whole new look. I’ve embraced the capsule collection concept for multiple reasons, mainly so that I can develop a singular, cohesive style, and also for the simple fact that I could mix and match most of the collection. Most of my pieces I picked up from local thrift stores and the rest I bought from online ethical fashion companies. My current favorite online capsule collection is Vetta Capsule.
Three Tips to Create Your Own Capsule Collection:
One – Have a color scheme in mind when selecting your pieces. Try to stick to one or two colors and make sure every piece can intermingle with each other. I chose pastel pink and white with hints of black and blue.
Two – Start with core pieces that you’ll always need in your wardrobe and build. For instance, a LBD, basic t, and a favorite pair of jeans are essential in every women’s closet. My rule of thumb is to stay simple.
Three – Stay true to your lifestyle. This will allow you to use every piece in your collection. Nothing is more refreshing than knowing you’re wearing everything in your closet. Since I work in a casual environment, I focused on things that I knew I could wear to the office and home.
I highlighted several different looks here, but I could have easily made 30 different looks from the capsule collection I created. It’s fun shopping for the entire season in one fell swoop because the rest of the season I can kick back and buy what I really love….shoes!!!! 🙂
