Lately, I’ve been feeling that my life is going to transition is a powerful way. It’s like the feeling a tiny sea creature might get as the tide slowly comes in. I don’t know whether to buckle down, roll with the waves or bury myself in a hole. Whatever it is, I feel like it’s going to yield something beautiful that will only make me stronger. As the season changes, along with this feeling of transition, I’m gearing up my spring/summer capsule wardrobe with some keepsake pieces.
My Favorite Transitional Style – The Button-Up Dress
One style I’ve come accustom to over the years is the classic button-up dress. Not only can it be worn several ways, it’s easy to wear and something you can just throw out without the fuse. I’m a firm believer that fashion should be as effortless as possible without looking like you’re ready to go to yoga class. This style creates that exact effortless chic look that can move from the office to the weekend easily.
On this day, I’m wearing my favorite button-up from the American made Mimu Maxi brand. Underneath this button-up style, is my striped Amour Vert dress I won from a giveaway on the The Dotted Mango‘s Instagram and my black vintage turtle I found at a local thrift shop. To top the look off, I handmade a jeweled brooch from an old necklace. Don’t be afraid to experiment with a classic style like the button-up. The more you take chances, the more you’ll discover new looks. Creating multiple looks from a single style is something I continually practice to achieve a minimalist approach to fashion. The more you get out of a single style, the better it is for your pocket and the environment. More posts to come in the future, but in the meantime, check out my button-up style picks above for a similar look.
